So be it.”

This is an excerpt from this week’s NEW Guided Meditation, Cultivating Self-Acceptance and Love, which I wrote some time ago. Neither the vision, nor the sentiment has changed for me one iota.

If anything, it has grown stronger, more urgent, as we face the physical, emotional and psychological “totally-out-of-sanity” or “unraveling” we are experiencing and witnessing today, globally.

And I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s over the top.

Here’s my advice, for what it’s worth: There’s only one thing to do about it all:

Go within. Find your portal to bliss; heal, then create, or “Be the change in the world you want to see”, as the great sage and my personal hero, Mahatma Gandhi taught us. Then repeat.

Why? Because…

All Healing, Change and Creation Start from Within

Let’s explore that idea.

I was impulsed to share this particular Guided Meditation with you as I was contemplating my time with the Rinpoche I spoke about in my previous Blog Post, Why Meditation is Like Cultivating a Garden, and Do Cats Meditate? Cheeky, I know. But I’m sure a few of you had a good giggle. Spoiler alert: There’s another little giggle waiting for you at the. ned of THIS post too. 😉

Back to Rinpoche. There are actually 2 separate encounters with 2 Rinpoches in that Blog Post…

I’m referring here to the second Rinpoche; the one I met through a fortuitous string of events, and with whom I was deeply honoured to have developed somewhat of a rapport. It felt like “friends”, however in retrospect was probably more “Master- student”, or perhaps a was really a combo of both.

This Rinpoche was a great healer. For many years already, he had regularly traveled the globe, eagerly and compassionately receiving all the sick and wounded who came to see him, seeking his miraculous healing gifts.

His healing ability, or “superpower”, happened through him saying some mantras over a smallish rock he would hold in the palm of his hands. Within about 5 minutes the rock would change its state and become so hot, it would sear the skin of anyone it touched, though not his.

He would touch this hot stone to various body parts of the hundreds and hundreds of those he received, causing the spontaneous and often full healing of the afflicted seeker.

The Many Become One

During one of our visits, and having witnessed the Rinpoche’s healings yet again several times, I could no longer hide my burning curiosity. I looked at him with inquiring eyes…

With what I would call an impish grin (as I found out later that he had a wicked sense of humour and loved a good belly laugh over just about anything else in pleasant company, other than dry ribs – go figure!) he called over his Interpreter, and asked me to come sit on the floor, directly in front of him…

My excitement became palpable: It’s not every day you get schooled by a Rinpoche! Lol…

He took one of his healing rocks and handed it to me. It was stone cold. Duh. He then said through the Interpreter that he would be reciting several mantras over the rock that took him 15 years of solitude in a cave to learn how to recite. That’s no laughing matter.

I waited patiently as he proceeded to hold the rock in the palms of both of his hands and chanted several mantras under his breath.

About 5 minutes passed. He opened his eyes. Through the Interpreter, he asked me to hold out my hand.

WIDE EYED (because I KNOW what that baby is charged up with!) I reluctantly did so. The Interpreter said, “Make it go from one hand to the other, like, as you say, ‘hot potato’!” And Rinpoche dropped the rock in my hand…

Oh yeah! Hot, it certainly was, but I could play hot potato with it without getting seared, as I did for about a minute, before I pretty much tossed it back at him…

No, that’s not me. But it is how I felt… Lol! Let’s carry on…

Rinpoche’s eyes were dancing with glee. I could tell he was getting a kick out of schooling me – and equally out of sharing the philosophy and spirituality behind his hot rock-healing process with me.

But the deeper, burning (sorry, couldn’t resist!) question remained. Ok, so you can heat up the rock, but how does that heal anyone?

I could tell that the Rinpoche could see that my eyes, and my mind, were hungry for an explanation, which he was so very kind as to grace me with then, and for which I will remain humbly grateful for eternity…

It was his explanation that awakened my soul/spirit/being to one of the most esoteric and fundamental aspects of humanity:

We are all ONE, and that it was through his setting, then harnessing the intention of healing the many (who are suffering from the same condition or affliction) in the rock, the touching that rock to ONE of the many, that his healing method consistently worked

Simultaneously healing the MANY who are in essence already ONE (though they may or may not be aware of it) was the fundamental necessity of thought and therefore the essence of the healing.

In other words, the genesis of the healing was through Rinpoche’s kind, loving and compassionate INTENTION, setting the stage, so to speak, with his mantras, invoking the energy of the healing process to begin, then carrying through with his intention of healing the MANY through the ONE that was already the MANY and the ONE.

This type of healing happened, and still happens, as Rinpoche continues his healing pilgrimages across Canada and the US, in his ongoing quest to support the orphanage and monastery, rather monasteries, now, I believe, that are in his care in Tibet.

So what’s the message? I reiterate:

Meditate, Heal, Create, Repeat

Let’s get “sciency” again. 🙂

Meditation incorporates a variety of techniques. One of the simplest and most effective is meditation through visualization, also known as “creative visualization”.

It refers to ways that affect the outer world via changing one’s thoughts, and is the basic approach for positive thinking and optimism, or the tendency to take a favorable or hopeful view and be confident about the future.

In other words, visualization is the technique of using one’s imagination to visualize specific behaviours or events occurring in one’s life. (Not much different from the intention Rinpoche set to heal ALL through the ONE, and the ONE through the MANY.)

Recent scientific research (of which there is a plethora) demonstrates how practicing meditation can affect the mind, brain, body and behaviour in ways that promote health and well-being.

In particular, creative and visual, or “Guided Meditation”, is frequently used to enhance performance and reach personal goals, whatever they may be.

In one of the most well-known studies on creative visualization in sports, for example, McCormack, F. 2006, Russian scientists compared 4 groups of Olympic athletes in terms of their training schedules.

They discovered that mental images can act as a prelude to muscular impulses.

Group 4, with 75% of their time devoted to mental training, performed the best.

The same conclusions have been obtained while investigating visual imagery used in other sports, such as golf, rugby, cricket and tennis.

Consequently, visualization can be a tool that athletes use to get their minds in shape for competition, as well as a tool that anyone else can use to set goals and find ways of achieving them.

Meditation through visualization boosts confidence by allowing people to picture themselves winning, healing, achieving, or whatever they choose to visualize.

Based on these findings, it is apparent that we are able to train the mind through creative visualization, and the ability to do that grows stronger the more one mediates.

In her PHD thesis, submitted to the Graduate Council of Texas State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of
Master of Arts with a Major in Health Psychology, in May 2015, entitled THE EFFECTS OF VISUALIZATION & GUIDED IMAGERY IN SPORTS PERFORMANCE, Tracy C. Ekeocha, B.S. wrote:

“To excel in any of these sports, just like anything one does, requires persistence in training and practice. But for some athletes, there is more to training than just the physical aspect. Some athletes strongly implement
cognitive (mental) training methods in their preparation to enhance sports performance.
..

For instance, sports visualization is a method essentially aimed at building up the athlete’s confidence and self-belief to overcome performance anxiety. It is designed to remove negative triggers and replace them with positive thoughts, which can sharpen a person’s focus and create more confidence. Some athletes, especially professional and collegiate athletes, have been known to use imagery and visualization techniques as an advantage during training and competition.

While several of these cognitive training techniques have played an important role in recent and past studies, the one that has heavily drawn attention in the world is 2 visualization and imagery (commonly referred to as guided imagery).

Utay & Miller (2006) stated that the use of guided imagery dates back more than 2,000 years and has evolved significantly during the past century (as cited in Kress, Adamson, Demarco,
Paylo, & Zoldan, 2013, p. 39)…

Guided imagery techniques contain detailed and vivid images that are retained in the mind that produce healing and well-being.

Furthermore, the consistent use of these techniques causes a learning or conditioning effect, so the negative triggers can diminish as the positive physical changes can ultimately become available at all times the individual chooses to use them.

Guided imagery is slowly being acknowledged in the world of sports and athletic competition…

There is valuable information on previous history and case studies involving guided imagery and if people became more aware of that information it could increase the popularity of these exercises in future sports and athletic competition.”

Visualize, Heal, Achieve, Create. Repeat

This is a slight variation on the title of this Blog, but it’s an apple that doesn’t fall far from the tree. Especially since we’re talking about creative visualization and Guided Meditation.

And speaking of which, I mentioned finding your portal in the title of this Blog Post. Let’s explore that.

The image above, rather the Andromeda galaxy, is something I like to focus on to help me slip into the varying depths of my inner dimensions. For some reason, it resonates with me, rather calls to me, like it’s my home away from home.

Lying just over two million light years away, extending my consciousness towards it in meditation allows me a feeling of great expansiveness, and allows me to mirror – and visit – that expansiveness within me. Powerful stuff.

INSIDE: That’s where all the real goodies lie… not in anything you can conjure in the 3D, dense world, which has drained us – especially empaths – practically dry.

If you’re one of them, you know exactly what I mean. If you’re not, I’m still pretty sure you know what I mean for one challenging reason or another and you’re drained pretty dry yourself.

I encourage everyone to find their own portal. Use any kind of creative visualization imagery to help you connect with it.

There are no wrong images! Even a donut works! Except that might be slightly distracting… Nyum, nyum… Lol.

Go through it your portal of choice, connect with your “silent passenger” and allow it to guide you to hour exquisite higher self; the one who’s really in charge; not your small-egoic self…

Give in, surrender to the beautiful void that is all of us, here, there, everywhere, together on a healing journey – SEPARATELY, as ONE, and as yet, as ONE, yet separately… (Shhhhh! Here’s a secret: Not for long!)

Let it replenish you and recharge you.

Accept yourself, great one, as you are, and love yourself, for you are, in essence that; LOVE.

May your next warrior pose help you stand at the ready – body, mind, spirit and soul: Times, they are rockin’ and a’shakin and a’changin, dear ones…
